VLAANDEREN, André [1881-1955]
Dutch-born artist and commercial illustrator. Resided in Belgium from 1929 and in the town of Bruges from 1933 until his death in 1955. Probably best-known cartographically for an exceptionally rare satirical cartoon map of Europe published at the outbreak of World War Two (L’Europe en Sept 1939) issued in a limited edition print run of just 150 examples.
