MARSHALL, Francis [1901-1980]
Artist and fashion illustrator, best known for his long association with the magazine Vogue. During the War he was seconded to the Admiralty, working as part of a small Camouflage team based at Kingswood School in Bath. During this time he designed and published a wonderful rare cartoon map depicting the remarkable Mulberry B Harbour, constructed in the immediate aftermath of the June 1944 D-Day landings on Gold Beach at Arromanches. After the war he returned to fashion illustration and in his latter years designed book covers for the renowmed romantic novelist, Barbara Cartland.
